I wrote a poem. I hope you like it.

As parents
and as children
We hold space.

In friendship
and in love
We hold space.

As sisters
and as brothers
We hold space.

To our romantic partners
and to our business partners
We hold space.

To our blood family
to our chosen family
We hold space.

To our employees,
and those who may employ our services,
We hold space.

To our followers
and those we follow
We hold space.

In the healing arts
in all arts,
We hold space.

To members of our tribe
and members of our human tribe
We hold space.

To our clients and patients,
and in all patience,
We hold space.

To our students,
and as life’s students,
We hold space.

Through contraction
to expansion
We hold space.

We chose to be here,
we choose to be here,
We hold space.

Inner space,
outer space,
We hold space.

On the dance floor,
and anywhere music is playing,
We hold space.

Online
and offline
We hold space.

Don’t sacrifice your attention
on the altar of the algorithm,
Thinking you hold space.

On call,
or on a call,
We hold space.

In conversation,
and in silence,
We hold space.

In touch,
and in keeping touch,
We hold space.

On our social feed,
and to those we feed,
We hold space.

We don’t got to,
we get to.
We hold space.

A healed savior,
is not a by-stander, but a coach,
We hold space.

Instead of: I got you
Try: I’m with you
We hold space.

From trauma
to agency
We hold space.

In designing or organizing,
in making love or making the bed,
We hold space.

Body
Heart
Mind
Spirit
We hold space.

Everyone here,
is just trying their best,
We hold space.

Nervous system regulation
can save lives,
We hold space.

We open ourselves
to getting close
We hold space

A healthy empath
is not a sponge,
We hold space.

A few of us were taught
how to self care through it all,
We hold space.

Away or at home
we all just walk each other home,
We hold space.

Showing up
is 80% of this thing,
We hold space.

It’s not about being calm or happy
but present through it all,
We hold space.

In cities and in nature,
it is in our nature,
To hold space.

When you walk through a valley,
keep walking, my love,
We hold space.

Care is not only a feeling
it is a choice, a living act,
We hold space.

May you remember
to leave space for yourself
We hold space.

From cradle to grave
In love we trust,
We hold space.

From dusk to dawn
and dawn to dusk
We hold space.

Together, apart,
Till death do us part,
We hold space.

At the end of parts work,
we are no longer in parts,
We hold space.

Emotional hygiene
is how we do it right,
We hold space.

Time may be an illusion,
yet time is all we’ve got,
We hold space.

Without condition,
it’s the human condition,
we hold space.

In this human form,
and above form,
we hold space.

In intimacy,
Into me you see,
We hold space.

Fostering safety
to feel, is to heal
We hold space.

Can we remain soft
in a hard world?
We hold space.

In this lifetime,
Find me in every lifetime,
We hold space.

This too shall pass,

It is always darkest
right before dawn

When the ground is pulled from under us,
we’re reminded of our wings,
We hold space.

It is our native language
that we all can stand to learn

Let ASAP be
As Soft As Possible

Not other way out

It can be more difficult

To a fetus in utero
birth is the end of life as it knows it,

There is life on the other side
of the birth canal we’re in,
We hold space.

Shadow is not the absence of light
it’s just a product thereof
We hold space.

Nothing real can be threatened,
Nothing unreal exists,
We. hold. space.

One sentence I as a space holder hear the most is: “You hold SO much”. To which my answer, time and again, is: “I Hold NOTHING”. I would not have lasted one day if I did.
I deeply hold that learning to safely hold space and being held can make us ever more present to all aspects of life.
